Experiences of BAME Young people on Racial Justice

As part of the Fairness Commission work on Race Equality we wanted to capture the experiences of BAME young people on Racial Justice. Throughout 2021 young people have been working with Michelle Innes through creative writing sessions to capture their stories or stories from the local community on Race and Identity.

The young people produced a short video of their stories.

The video was launched at an event on Sunday 27th February, the event brought together young people, their families and partners to showcase their work.

The young people highlighted that they were never asked about Racial Equality before. The young people were supported by People Arise Now (Vanessa McCain) and Cultural Sports Group (Jubee Matthews).

Moving forward the young people are keen to present their video in Schools, to school governors and to Local Strategic Partnerships.

The young people will also continue with the creative writing sessions.
