The Ryan Neuro Therapy Centre

Ryan Neuro Therapy Main ImageThe Ryan Neuro Therapy Centre is a small, independent charity based in Coulsdon, providing vital support to more than 130 adults from London and the Southeast every week. We work with people living with neurological conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, acquired spinal injuries, and the long-term effects of stroke, helping them to maintain independence, confidence, and quality of life.

Our experienced therapy team delivers a range of specialist services, including physiotherapy-led exercise sessions within our fully equipped gym, as well as therapeutic classes tailored to improve mobility, balance, strength, and overall wellbeing. In addition, our Occupational Therapist supports members in adapting to the challenges of everyday life, helping them manage activities such as personal care, employment, and leisure in ways that promote independence and confidence.

Quote that reads “Finding and joining The Ryan Centre has been revolutionary for me” - I would recommend highly the Ryan Neuro Centre to anyone with MS or ParkinsonsDemand for our services continues to grow, and with annual running costs exceeding £360,000, fundraising campaigns such as the Big Give are essential in helping us continue this important work. Every donation helps us provide life-enhancing therapy, emotional support, and a welcoming community for those affected by neurological conditions.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to supporting not only physical health, but also emotional wellbeing. Living with a neurological condition can often be isolating, and we strive to create a positive, supportive environment where members and their families feel understood, encouraged, and connected. We also recognise the invaluable role that carers and loved ones play and aim to support them throughout the journey.

The following piece has been written by one of our members, a stroke survivor, and her daughter, highlighting the life-changing impact that attending the Centre has had on her recovery, confidence, and wellbeing:

“Ever since joining The Ryan Centre, my confidence in my health and abilities have increased, which has put my mental health at peace along with that of my family and friends. The expertise and care of the centre staff is beyond words, and I have grown really fond of seeing everyone on the day that I attend the centre. I don't see the staff as staff, but as friends and one of my many wishes is for the centre to gain the recognition and support that I believe it deserves throughout the local and greater communities, but it needs to be a vital part of the recovery process after the hospital point of contact”.

And this is her daughter’s view of the Centre:

“In 2017, mum ended up having a stroke, leaving her with left-sided weakness. This took a huge toll on her physical and mental health. She has good days, but I’d be lying if I said she always sees light at the end of the tunnel.

Since her lack of mobility, my mum has drifted from socialisation of the world. It’s like her world went quiet. Thanks to the Ryan Neuro Therapy Centre, my mum has transformed hugely in the little time she’s spent here. She’s motivated about getting better, as well as being a lot more confident with exercises – thanks to the physiotherapists! Everyone in this Centre is friendly, patient and caring. It’s a place where everyone understands one another and you feel welcome, no matter who has what.

Me and my mum have made some great friendships here and we can only pray everyone gets better, even if it’s just one foot further than before”.

Please consider making a donation. Through the Big Give Campaign, every pound donated will be doubled, meaning your support will have twice the impact and make a real difference to our small charity and the people who rely on us.
