As well as supporting charities, community and faith groups, very often we support members of the community that are keen to turn an idea in to a project and go on to set up a community group or in some instances a charity. It’s inspiring when we see residents wanting to come together with an idea to support their local community.
Over the past few months, we have working with a small volunteer-led group called Maitreya.
Maitreya a small volunteer-led women’s wellness group, supports women aged 35–55 who are or have faced health and emotional challenges related to hormonal changes. Through workshops in yoga, dance, music, art, and self-motivation, the group encourages women to explore their emotions and better understand the changes they are experiencing. The group provides a safe space for women to help them express their emotions positively and regain strength, positivity and confidence to navigate this stage of life.
By providing guidance, connections, support with accessing venues, and assistance with funding, legal structures, banking, and insurance, we’re proud to have helped this group turn their informal community idea into a successful project.
