Celebrating Writers from Sutton Women’s Network

Book Launch Collage 260322

The women writers of Sutton Women’s Network celebrated the publication of Fourteen Magazine on Saturday 26 March at the beautiful Honeywood House on a glorious, sunny day with a packed audience in attendance.

Fourteen Magazine is an annual publication featuring poetry by international award-winning poets. Four writers of Sutton Women’s Network were published within a special central platform dedicated to celebrating new and upcoming writers.

The launch was opened by Madam Mayor, Cllr Trish Fivey and Madam Deputy Mayor, Cllr Annie Moral. There were readings from Fay Chung, Beverley Dixon, Nali Patel, and Jacqueline Crooks reading a poem by Barbara Watts. The poetry of the women was rich and varied, drawing on the cultural sites of Sutton and also celebrating family, history, diversity, language, and friendship.

The event was organised in partnership with the Cultural Services team and hosted by Razia of Community Action Sutton, who founded the group. Joseph Jeffers, Chair of Place at My Table who now run the group also spoke about exciting plans for Sutton Women’s Network.

Fourteen Magazine will be opening submissions to women from Sutton Women’s Network again this summer so please contact Jacqueline@sharp-raiser.com if you would like to join the group.
