Radio St Helier

Radio St Helier imagesRadio St Helier is a hospital radio station broadcasting to the patients and staff of St Helier Hospital. Run entirely by volunteers, the station provides entertainment, requests, and a friendly voice to brighten hospital stays.

Founded in 1970, Radio St Helier has been a cherished part of the local community, providing music, entertainment, and companionship to hospital patients and staff. Over the years, the station has grown and evolved thanks to the passion and dedication of its volunteers — many of whom have gone on to careers in media, broadcasting, and public service.

As well as broadcasting directly to the patients and staff of St Helier and Queen Mary's Children's Hospital, we also broadcast to the wider community through the internet and smart speaker.

Now, with advances in technology, we are able to take live broadcasting out into the community. Offering live request shows from care homes, community groups and day centres, RSH are able to engage the whole community with music and entertainment. We collaborate with other local community groups and good causes by giving them an opportunity to reach the wider community through the power of radio, on our weekly Mixtape feature.  Anyone is welcome to get in touch to arrange coming onto the show or, if they have a community group that would benefit from a live broadcast they can drop us an email.

Radio St Helier VanWe also operate a mobile radio unit to bring music and entertainment to a multitude of community events.

Alongside all this, in our 55th year, we are launching an initiative to help reduce isolation in our society, collaborating with other groups to identify those that are isolated and supply them with a smart speaker and, if necessary, an internet connection so they can connect through our shows. This will tie in with our broadcasts outside the studio.
