Home Start Sutton Poster Home-Start Sutton has been supporting local families who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges since 1984. Their experienced staff and trained volunteers provide support and encouragement, enabling parents and carers to grow to be the parents or carer they want to be.

Home-Start Sutton delivers a range of home and community-based services for families, tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.

Services include;

Volunteer mentoring

Support for families with children under 5. Trained and professionally supported parent volunteers offer weekly support to the whole family. Befriending for families, who live in the borough and are experiencing stress. Reducing the effects of isolation in families. Find out more

Nurturing Parent Programme  - Various Locations and Days

An 11-week parenting course for parents with children under 5. Helping parents attune to their children’s needs, practice positive discipline, manage challenging behaviour, cope with stress and the importance of nurturing themselves and their children. Find out more

COSP (Circle of Security) - Various Locations and Days

A joint project with Sutton Children’s centres. An 8-week course. A parenting course which explores Attachment the relationship between the parent and child.  Find out more

Monday Family Support Group- Tweedale Children’s Centre Monday 12.30-2.30

A weekly group in Carshalton for isolated parents and children under 5, where they can meet other parents in a safe nurturing environment. 

Tea and Tots - Thursday AM Vineyard Church Stayton Rd 10-12

A group for parents and under 2’s. This weekly group in central Sutton is for parents and babies under 2 and is aimed at parents with low mood/mild to moderate mental ill health. 

Bringing Mums Together - Thursday PM Vineyard Church Stayton Rd 12.30-2.30

A weekly group in Sutton. This group is run with Sutton Mental Health Foundation for pregnant or new mums with babies under 1 to help reduce isolation, a safe space to share experiences and make friendships.

Big Hopes Big Future

1:1 structured volunteer support over 3 months focussed on parent and child school readiness. Aimed at children aged 2-4 years old. 

Moving on Together

A joint project with Playwise, offering post-diagnosis support to families with a child with additional needs/disability. Weekly volunteer support, access to the Playwise Hub and support from staff.

Sutton Perinatal Mental Health Peer Support Groups - offers peer to peer community support for parents experiencing mild to moderate perinatal mental ill health. These groups provide a safe nurturing space for parents to meet other parents, share their experiences and reduce the sense of isolation. Find out more

The Pod - Friday The Dolphin Sutton 10-1pm

A group for families with a child under 5 who are living in in Temporary/insecure accommodation.

This weekly drop-in group is held at the Dolphin, Sutton Friday mornings 10-1. The group provides refreshments a safe place for your children to play and housing advice from professionals.  Find out more
