Small Charity Week 2025

 

SCW LogoSmall Charity Week (23rd to 28th June) is a campaign to empower the UK’s small charities to have an even greater impact on society, and to address the challenges they face.

With this year's focus being on financial resilience and in response to the State of the Sector research we are running a series of practical support sessions. These sessions are designed for Small Charities to get the most out of their time - short 1-2-1 sessions lasting between 30 minutes to an hour focusing on a particular subject or issue. 

 

Monday 23rd June – Meet the Funder (local funder Beddington Community Benefit Fund)
Book your 30 minute 1-2-1 online session with a grants officer from Beddington Community Benefit Fund.  If your charity has an idea for a project that will help give back to the community, contact us to book you slot on 23rd June to find out if your project meets their criteria. Email enquiries@communityactionsutton.org.uk to book a slot.


Tuesday 24th June – set up an easy Fundraising account with Becky
If your community organisation needs additional funds, have a chat with Becky from easyfundraising find out how you can receive free unrestricted funding via the platform. Becky will show you how your volunteers, staff, members and supporters can use the easyfundraising platform to raise donations for free for your organisation when they shop with leading retailers. 

What to expect:
• A live demonstration of how it works 
• Instructions on how to get your organisation set up
• Tips on how to raise as much as possible 

Suitable for: anyone involved in fundraising for a good cause including voluntary groups, CICs, social enterprises, churches, schools, sports clubs and charities

About easyfundraising
Through easyfundraising, 8,000 online retailers will donate money to your organisation when your volunteers, staff and supporters shop with them. Anything from a weekly grocery shop to a family holiday can generate a free donation for you.  Every 3 months you’ll receive all the donations raised by your supporters and as it’s unrestricted funding, you spend the money on whatever you need.

Wednesday 25th June - Discover the Power of Generative AI for Small Charities

Join us on Wednesday 25th June from 10am for a 2 hour practical online session designed especially for small charities!  We’ll demystify generative AI—explaining what it is, what it isn’t, and how it can become your partner, not a replacement.

Explore how generative AI tools can help you serve more people more effectively, engage in a TIY (try-it-yourself) session and discuss practical limitations and ethical issues.
You will also discuss how generative AI might help your work and what your future needs are, including your training needs.

Wednesday 25th June – 1-2-1 Finance Surgeries
Book a 1 hour slot with our Head of Finance, Dun Kuti.  Dun will be offering in-person 1-2-1 finance surgeries. You can get a financial health check for your charity or some advice on topics including:

  • Making sure your financial procedures are robust

  • Complying with statutory and funders' reporting requirements

  • Budgeting

  • Unit costing

  • Cash flow forecasting

  • Preparing or reading finance reports

  • Financial responsibilities of trustees

Thursday 26th June – 1-2-1 Funding and Governance Support
Our Head of Partnerships, Impact and Equalities, Razia Sattar will be offering online 1-2-1 funding and governance support sessions. Whether you’re looking for funding or need to chat through the different options Razia can help. She will also be on hand to offer support with a governance issues or questions you might have.
